Support 211: Co-Sponsor the HELP Act of 2023
In the wake of COVID-19, millions of people have experienced heightened social service needs and uncovered new mental health issues, and millions more have had their existing challenges exacerbated. That is why Senator Casey, Senator Moran, Congressman Higgins, and Congressman Fitzpatrick introduced the HELP Act (the Human Services Emergency Logistic Program Act), which provides federal funding to build out 211 and 988 services and scale up the response to the mental health and social services crisis in the country and by diverting non-emergency calls from 911.

On behalf of United Way and the 211 Network, and the over 18 million individuals throughout the county who rely on 211 to obtain information and referrals on critical health and human services, we respectfully request you to support the Human-services Emergency Logistics Program Act of 2023, also known as the “HELP Act,” and to consider signing on as a co-sponsor of this important bill.

If you have already signed on to the bipartisan and bicameral legislation that was introduced, we thank you for your support!

If you have not yet signed on, The HELP Act will connect people in communities with the human-services and mental health resources they need while reducing the call and response burden on local and state law enforcement agencies. United Way and 211 networks throughout the country strive to engage community members and work with residents as well as our public and private partners to co-create solutions that ensure everyone has the resources, support, opportunities, and networks they need to thrive.

  • 211 provides expert, caring help - No matter the situation, the specialists at 211 listen, identify underlying problems, and connect people in need with local public and nonprofit community resources that improve lives.
  • 211 is a vital resource supporting 99 percent of communities in the United States, and this legislation means that more people can get the help they need, including those with mental health illnesses and other disabilities.

This legislation is critical to ensuring that we can shore up the funding for 211 to help people receive the social service supports and mental health resources they need.

Email your legislator today to request they sign on as a Co-Sponsor of the Human-Services Emergency Logistics Program (HELP) Act of 2023.

We need a few pieces of information to connect you with your lawmakers. Fill out the form at the right to be connected and send an e-mail. Personalized e-mails are especially effective. Consider adding how 211 supports your community.
